Hobie Atkins was the first player to 100,000 chips, but that didn't last long and he slid down to 45,000 a few levels later. His stack took a constant upward climb from dinner break to the last hand of the night, though, and Atkins bagged 266,500 chips, good for 3/18. Michael Shanahan's 280,500 was a single ante better than Khang Luu for the chiplead.
HPT Belterra March runner-up Robert Geith went on his own chipstack roller coaster, jumping up to 75,000 after two levels, making it to about 120,000, falling down to being all-in preflop for his last 40,000, then building up again to finish Day 1A at
Among those who came for Day 1A but did not bag chips for Sunday is HPT's Player of the Year Ryan Gregor, Greg Raymer (eliminated in the last level of the night) and Roger Campbell.
