Each year HPT honors a Player of the Year for their performance in HPT events. The past two Players of the Year have fallen short so far in their attempts to make Day 2 of HPT Golden Gates. Today, they are seated at the same table.
So far today, neither has gotten much going. Ryan Gregor, who is the reigning POY has 18,000 and Shawn Roberts who was his predecesor has 13,500.
Gregor has earned $179,820 in touranement winnings with five of his six cashes coming from HPT events. Roberts has more cashes spead out over a longer period of time and has $136,408 in total earnings so far. \
Allen Kessler is also in the field and is a former HPT Player of the Year. He has over $3-million dollars in tournament earnings and his first recorded cash is from 2001. He got 16th place in a $5,150 Limit Omaha tournament at the World Series of Poker. Kessler has 24,000 as the players head to their first break of the day.
