Maurice Hawkins and Ari Engel are battling for top chipstack today, top prize in this HPT Main Event, and a few additional items later this month.
The last three levels were very kind to Hawkins, who sits atop the chipcounts with 185,000, while Engel has climbed to 125,000. Both are looking to a) bag chips tonight, b) be one of the final 9 on Sunday to advance to the final table and c) take the title on Monday.
They are also both up for the same two GPI American Poker Awards, for Tournament Performance of the Year and Breakout Performance of the Year - Hawkins for winning the WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event - defeating 1,008 entries and making him the first ever to win back-to-back circuit main events - and Engel for taking down Aussie Millions for a $1.6 milly payday (along with a HPT Final Table also)
