They Went @FlyinLyons at @HPT @Belterra
There's a dark minraise to 200 by Ray Attiyah , a dark 3-bet to 1200 by Kendall Richards, then Barbara Walston (above) makes it 4,500 - but she looked at her cards first. Attiyah then 5-bet shoves for his last 13,275, Richards eventually calls the 5-bet-shove and undershoves for 12,800.
It is just the end of Level ONE, folks!
Walston turns over
Richards shows
Attiyah flips up
Yes, folks, level one with 30,000 stacks and two players are all in dark with 7-8 and 2-5.
For all that is good in poker, the pocket 7's hold as the board runs out .
Attiyah is out the next hand, Richards down to 10,500 and Walston moves to 38,000.
This just happened 48 hours ago in California at the World Poker Tour Main Event in California - where I just came from - and WPT Champions Cup Member Pat Lyons (below) opened dark, was 3-bet, so he 4-bet-shoved dark as overall chipleader with 20 players left and $284,000-plus up top. Lyons won, knocking out Charlie Carrell and further cementing his reputation in the poker world.
Play has moved up a level now, so action is at
Level - 2
Blinds - 75/150
Entries - 47
