The Old Nine-Deuce-Off-is-Good Trick

Stay with me if you can here, there's a lot going on, and a lot of nothing, all at the same time.

Melvin Mandell makes it 5,500 UTG. Naval Subbarayan calls from MP, the cutoff calls, the button calls, the SB calls and now Rani Haj (above) is getting 7-1 so he has to call, right? Yep, he calls also.

See, there's a lot going on.

Everyone, yep, all 7 players check the 6-Q-9 flop.

See, there's not much going on.

Mandell bets 10,000 on the 9 turn. Just the button and Haj come along.

Mandell bets another 15,000 on the Jack river. The button folds, but Haj cuts out raising chips, appears to think a raise is almost all of his chips and tosses out four 5k chips instead, announcing a call. The dealer kicks one 5k back and Haj turns over 9-2o.

Trip nines.

Mandell looks at his hand, looks again, and again .. and mucks.

Rani Haj - 127,000

Level - 14
Blinds - 1200/2400
Antes - 300
Remaining - 34
