It was a banner year for Gary Herstein in 2017. He more than doubled his career earnings to over a-half-million dollars, and he finally broke through for his first major tournament victory, winning the HPT Main Event here at East Chicago in August for over $170K. He was just edged out for HPT Player of the Year in the final event by Ari Engel and he's back here in his hometown looking to get 2018 off on the right foot in his quest to finish one spot better in the POY standings.
