The Legend of the Food Coma states a poker tournament loses 15-20 percent of its remaining field in the first 40-minute levels after players return from dinner.
Time after time, main event after main event, the averages hold true.
Today, not so much .. at first.
28 players came back from dinner in Day 1A of the $1650 HPT Black Hawk Main Event.
27 players remained after the first post-dinner level was finished.
Well, just as I was about to try and figure out what happened, the food coma kicked in and 5 players have been eliminated in the last 11 minutes, cutting the field to 22 in Level 11 - or 23 percent of the field gone in 60 minutes.
