The first flight of the Belterra Casino Main Event drew a respectable 71 entrants - including the previous two Belterra champions - Keven Stammen and Bruce Hugon. But it would be Stammen's night as he ended play with a significant chip lead over Neal Harding in second place.
Reigning HPT Player of the Year Ari Engel joined the field, but was eliminated at the last break of the night. He's on location to take advantage of the $10,000 in buy-ins he won as part of his championship package.
The surviving players return for Day 2 on Sunday at noon with the goal of making Monday's final table. Two more Day 1 flights are scheduled with Friday's at 2 pm and Saturday's at 1 pm.
Satellites are available in the tournament multiple times a day.
