DAY 1A COMES TO A CLOSE
The first of four flights has come to a close in Black Hawk. In the end, 17 of the 90 players bagged their chips for Day 2 on Sunday.
Cezary Grosfeld (pictured) bagged the lead with 384,000 chips. Grosfeld has a tournament earnings total of $2,172 which is roughly what a mincash will pay if he can survive the money bubble Sunday.
Just behind Grosfeld at 341,000 is past HPT champion Thomas Fuller. Fuller was never really in danger and seemed to have a pretty good feel for his table from the start. He quietly chipped up late to bag over 68 big blinds.
Other notables to bag included Osama "Sammy" Aweida (168,000), Ben Greenberg (92,000), and Barry Faecher (86,000). Faecher is fresh off of a top 100 finish in the WSOP Main Event last week.
Many other notables came out to play but did not bag chips. Among them were Mike Englert, Gary Germann, Griffin Malatino, and current POY leader Aaron Johnson.
Flight B kicks off tomorrow at noon. Flights C and D are Friday and Saturday at noon. This event ended with over 600 entries in July 2017 for a prize pool of nearly $600,000. Shane Faulk took that one down for $132,262.
