BRING MORE WOMEN TO POKER

@MaryKSt55 Sturges is on a short list of women with multiple @HPTpoker final tables on their poker resume. An early @AmeristarSC Level 2 arrival - Sturges has made a final table here each of the last two years, and is looking for three-in-a-row.

She was 5th ($25,999) at HPT St Charles in April 2017 and 9th ($12,946) in November 2016.

There was a great deal of positive talk in Las Vegas this year at the Women in Poker Hall of Fame ceremonies where Maria Ho and Lupe Soto were inducted.

Both Daniel Negreanu and Matt Savage - as speakers - were among those talking about ways to being more women in to the game. The Women's Poker Association is in process of certifying poker rooms as player-friendly for women as a way of helping staff deal with 'questionable' male behaviors at and away from the felt.

"A poker room is not a locker room," was one of Savage's quotes from the afternoon. He also added a lengthy blog on the World Poker Tour website about working to make a poker room a better environment for women.

Sturges and Deborah Phillips - who bagged a 240,000 stack last night - are among a strong group of women who play and run well at Ameristar St. Charles.

So, gents, how about doing your part to bring more women in to the game and making each poker room you play in more welcoming to all women.
