Last weekend, @MichaelM172 Monaghan was in California for the Ante Up World Championships, taking second place and bringing a $107,015 prize back to his home in Jackson, MS.
He's here today for Day 1A of the @HPTPoker $1,100 Main Event at Ameristar Vicksburg.
Monaghan won his way to the California tournament at Thunder Valley Resort by winning the Ante Up Poker Tour main event earlier this year at Pearl River Resort.
The final four players at the Ante Up World Championship did an ICM chop, with Monaghan receiving from $20,000-$30,000 more than each of the other three players, as he was chipleader at the time. They left $11,000 cash, a trophy and a photo shoot to be on the cover of the September edition of Ante Up Magazine to play for.
Personally, I think Monaghan was fine with 2nd place once he realized I would be the one shooting the cover photo ....
