RACING FOR POINTS
Ben Brown - winner of the July @HPTpoker $1,100 @Gates_Poker - is in a 3-way tie for 6th place, just 13 points behind Ossama Estafanous in the race to be the Season 14 HPT Player of the Year.
Estafanous - also playing in today's Day 1D in Black Hawk - is looking to add points and hold his lead in this event, next month's $1650 in Daytona Beach, FL and the $2,500 Season Championship at Ameristar East Chicago, the final three HPT main events on the season schedule.
Winner of the Player of the Year receives what current POY Ari Engel received for winning the Season 13 title - an entry in to 6 HPT Main Events and hotel accommodations at each location.
Aaron Johnson - a single point behind Estafanous - and Jake Baumgartner - 3 points behind Estafanous - have already bagged a stack in this tournament, as have Mike Englert and Alex Ziskin - both ties with Brown for 6th place.
Players earn points with a cash at any HPT Main Event during the season. Here's all the Player of the Year points per player and the points table.
Making the 27-player redraw on Sunday is enough for that 3-player group tied for 6th to move to the top of the leaderboard (based on what happens to the players above them) while a win here in Black Hawk is enough for anyone in the Top-150 to move in to first place (again, based on what happens to everyone above them in the standings this week).
Level - 5
BB Ante - 300
Blinds - 100/300
Entries - 174
