SET OVER SET ISN'T THE WHOLE STORY

There's plenty of preflop action between Rich Monroe and his challenger in the 2-seat here just after Level 2 begins in Day 1A of the @HPTpoker $1,650 Main Event at @Gates_Poker in Black Hawk, CO.

A series of raises ends up capped, and off to the flop they go.

A-7-8 goes the flop and the action intensifies, until all the chips are in the middle, and for a moment Monroe is happy.
  • Eights for Monroe, he flops middle set, then reality sets in.
  • Aces for his challenger, top set.
Disappointment and a Main Event exit in less than an hour of play, for Monroe is covered.

Well, you see, what happened was

Turn 8 ... quads for Monroe and his remaining 26,600 stack doubles, leaving his challenger with crumbs.

Level - 2
