Tan Hoang went on an incredible multi-level heater at the end of the night to top the leaderboard as 22 players Bag-a-Stack in Day 1A of the @HPTpoker $1,650 Main Event @Gates_Poker in Black Hawk, CO.
A much larger than normal - for an opening flight - 131-entry field came out to get a 30,000 stack in action. The runner-up here last September to Jay McVeigh, Hoang (871,000) leads the way with one of the largest Day 1 flights bagged in HPT's 16-season history.
He wrapped up the night by pushing a challenger off a 175,000 pot, showing 4-5 for total air. When you're running good, nobody wants to take a chance you hit yet another monster.
Ted Ramos (281,000) and John Reiter (241,000) round out the top three stacks.
Among those who appeared today but left without a Day2Bag was Mick Pupillo, Danny Gonzales, Craig Casino, Cody Brinn, Mike Englert, Ed Sebesta, John Beauprez, Jarod Minghini, Ryan Dodson, Gary Germann, Jay McVeigh, David Gutfreund and Mane Lai.
Here's the 22 players, from a 131-entry starting field, moving on to Sunday's 11am Day 2 restart.
