That's a wrap for the final starting flight of the Ameristar St. Charles Main Event. From a registered field of 175 entries, the night ended with 41 players bagging chips to come back at 1pm Sunday for Day 2, joining the 36 players from the previous two starting flights who also advanced to Sunday.
Vijay Natarajan started out on fire, was cooled off considerably by Jamey Kramer in the middle of the day, then it was Natarajan with two huge pots against Kramer to vault into the chiplead and eliminate Kramer from the Main Event. Greg Jennings, however, had a few things to say - and a few big pots to win - at that same table and was the overall Day 1C chiplead, although Natarajan grabbed the lead back before the night was over, finishing with 302,500.
Another player to make Day 2 was Laura Matthew - who made the Day 1C field via a $375 satellite where she was down to just 1BB when the satellite ended and she won her seat. Matthew bagged 69,000 and needs to make it through half of Day 2's field to go from 1BB to in the money.
Among those who came out for Day 1C and did not make it to Sunday were Chan Pelton, Robert Castiore, Ryan Gregor, Nick Jivkov, Matt Bond, Jason Gooch and Gerald McVeigh.
Day 2 kicks off at 1pm Sunday - players please be here by 12:45pm to open your chip bags and be ready for cards in the air - playing down until only 9 remain, no matter how short or how long the day is.
36 are going to make the money, 9 are going to make Monday, and one is going to make $113,000 as The Champ.
