This weekend decides who is going to be crowned as @HPTPoker Season XIII Player of the yrar, and there's only one - Gary Herstein - who controls his own destiny.
Herstein sits atop the Leaderboard with only the $2500 Championship left in the season.
He has three final tables this year - including a victory in September at Ameristar East Chicago for $170,404.
Those three final tables gives Herstein 244.5 points for the year, a slim 7.4 point lead over last year's Player of the Year runner-up Cord Garcia.
Both Garcia and 3rd place Ed Sebesta (222.4 points) bagged stacks in last night's Day 1A. Herstein is looking today for his Day 2 bag.
For a lil bit of Chamiponship trivia, Herstein's first-ever HPT cash was at the 2008 championship at Majestic Star, just a few hundred yards away from where he recorded his first-ever HPT win this year at Ameristar East Chicago.,
