Chip leader Mike O'Neill (above) ran into Mark Roberts. With over 350K already in the middle, O'Neill bet 200K on the 2-4-10-J-8 board with 4 clubs. Roberts announced a raise to 475K. O'Neill was confused, "Why would you do that?" But he had the stones to let it go. Roberts turned over pocket aces with the Ac, explaining for sure how the pot got so big to begin with.
Tony Bartock (below) could not find a similar temperance. After raising pre-flop to 35,000 with K7o, he we was re-raised by Duke Lodge, who had just been moved to the table. Lodge 3-bet with AKo to 85,000 and Bartock decided to see a flop. It was ace-high. Bartock shoved. Whoops. Lodge easily called and moved over 1.5 million in chips as Bartock made a disappointed walk to the payout window.
Finally, the lone woman in the field today, Patricia Robinson is hanging on by a thread, but hanging on. Here, she survived a 3-way all-in with KT against AQ and AK by flopping a 10. She still has less than 10 BB's, though.
