The field size in a poker tournament is reduced by 15-20 percent within the first 40 minutes after dinner break ends.
Players get complacent, relaxed, thinking about how good that steak was, they get a bit lazy, make a mistake or two, and next thing you know, they're below 10BB and in a world of hurt.
