Showdown Revisited

John Richards and Michael Esquivel faced off plenty of times a few weeks ago as both made the @HPTpoker @AmeristarSC final table. Richards collected $12,560 for finishing 8th and Esquivel was runner-up to Greg Radosh for $63,666.

The two squared off a few moments ago, building the pot to 41,000 on the Q-5-8-7 board, with Esquivel checking the river and Richards moving all in for his last 55,200.

Esquivel - with 115,000 behind - was seriously upset with the move by Richards.

"I have a big hand," he said, "I checked so you would bet the river."

Well, Richards did bet the river, but after close to three minutes, Esquivel apparently decided the bet was too big, and he mucked.

Richards, who is not a fan of the BB Ante format, preferring a button ante instead, moves to 96,000.

Esquivel gained back most of his lost chips two hands later by eliminating Jim Kasputis to get back to 135,000.
