The Season XIV Player of the Year race is well underway. With seven events on the schedule left to earn points, Minnesota's Aaron Johnson (pictured) leads the way with a slight lead over four other players tied for second. Of those top five, Alex Ziskin is the only player we've seen in the field today in Kansas City.

Ari Engel is the reigning POY champ. The title comes with more than just bragging rights. The HPT Player of the Year freerolls into six Main Events next season and gets complimentary hotel accommodations at those six stops.
Among the list of elite players who have earned POY honors in the past are Greg Raymer, Allen Kessler and Aaron Massey. Two other players on the list who have been spotted in today's field in Kansas City are Ryan Gregor and Shawn Roberts.
