Bryan Johnson used a big push the final two levels to wrap up play as the chipleader in Day 1B of the $500,000 Guaranteed @HPTpoker $1650 Main Event @StLouisPokerHC.
Johnson - at 454,000 - is followed on the Day 1B Leaderboard by Lisa Morrow-McBride in 2nd with 437,000, Nick Pupillo in 3rd with 375,000 and Josh Turner 1/4th of an ante behind Pupillo at 374,000.
Pupillo - the current No. 1 spot on the HPT Season XV Player of the Year leaderboard - picked up a huge double late in the night through Turner to survive. If Turner takes that hand, he moves to 750,000 at that point and who knows where he finishes the night.
Reigning HPT Player of the Year Aaron Johnson struggled with a short stack all day long, bagging 80,000.
Among the players who came out for Day 1B but did not find a Day2Bag was Craig Casino, Dennis Phillips, Stan Jablonski, Keith Heine, Shawn McCracken, Ryan Gregor, Craig Welko, Derek Schroeder, Jeff Fielder, Wendy Freedman, Lily Kiletto, Melissa Bryne, Chris Tryba, Nick Davidson, Roger Campbell, Mike Sabbia, Ryan Dodson, John Richards, Greg Wood, Jeff Grimes and Ed Sebesta.
Here's the final chipcounts for the two dozen players - from a starting field of 172 - advancing to Sunday's 11am Day 2 Restart.
