Cory Smith Leads Final 107 in HPT Main Event East Chicago


Of 526 players in this HPT Main Event, 107 remain. The top 54 finishers will be paid a minimum payout of $3,242 and the winner will receive $173,385 and a $3,600 championship package.

Cory Smith (pictured) played in Flight C and amassed a stack of 441,000 chips before the end of the night after a very favorable last couple levels. Smith has a WSOP Circuit ring, which he won last month in Baltimore, and is looking to add an HPT title to his credit. He goes into Day 2 as the overall chip leader.

Neil Patel finished 2nd in chips in Flight C with 431,000 which makes him second overall to begin Day 2. The Flight B chip leader, Daniel Loizzo, who took 3rd in this event here at the Ameristar back in January of this year, begins Day 2 third in chips and would love to improve on his 3rd-place finish.

The Day 2 restart is at 1 p.m. local time here in East Chicago, IN. Levels will be 60 minutes from now on with breaks every two levels.
